Zionism Revisited: Judith Butler’s & Seyla Benhabib’s Perspectives at Stake

What has transpired from the study is that according to Butler, the critique of Zionism is strongly required, because it has betrayed its early creeds by colonizing Palestinians land, violating their rights, and continually committing genocides against them. She has argued that Zionism must go beyond its Jewish exclusiveness, if any ethical and political values of democracy are to be founded. Too as an engaged feminist, she has endeavoured to disseminate a spirit of nonviolence in the entire world. Moreover, though, she has condemned Hamas attack, she has never vacillated, since the surge of Gaza war, to enunciate her solidarity with the Palestinian cause. Thrust into the centre of controversy, mainly after Pantin’ roundtable, she has drawn attention to the long-lasting past of violence that has culminated in the atrocious present moment.
On the other hand, Benhabib has cautiously taken a pro-Zionist position by not acknowledging the right of Palestinians to resist the Israeli colonizer.
